Today is the last Friday in October and that means it is time for the Showcase meeting at Cheltenham. Whilst there are several mettings that can make a claim to being the start of the National Hunt season, in my head this is the one that counts. As a result, this is the time of year when I tend to draw a line on the French Recruits list and get ready to start on a new set of horses for 2025. There will be some late additions over the winter and we have the Horses-in-Training sales to look forward to as well, but the majoirty of British and Irish yards like to have their teams assembled by October and I would be fairly confident to say that the vast majority of the buying for the 2024-25 season is now complete.
Below you will find an updated version of this years list which includes a few late additions. I'd be especially keen to follow the progress of a couple of the 3-year-olds that have moved to the UK in the last few weeks. Miss Altea Blue is a very exciting recruit for Paul Nicholls, especially as she retains her Novice status, whilst Live Conti was an impressive winner of the Prix Pride of Kildare and the fact that he won that race, means his new connections really have no choice but to crack on with his career. This has been a record year for the list, both in terms of numbers of horses recruited and downloads (closing in on 6,000). Thank you so much for the kind messages of support that I receive and I look forward to compiling the 2025 list, which will begin on Monday.
